The Export-Import Bank of Korea (www.koreaexim.go.kr, Chairman EUN, Sung-soo, “Korea Eximbank”) announced that it would host the 23rd EDCF Workshop for 24 senior government officials of 19 developing countries in charge of development and cooperation, including the Philippines, Egypt and Cambodia, at its headquarters in Seoul.

The four-day workshop starting from June 11 will consist of a seminar on enhancing the understanding of how EDCF works, a special lecture on Korea's economic development experiences, industrial site visits and a cultural excursion giving the attendees opportunities to experience Korea's economic development and traditional culture.

Along with senior government officials of partner countries, local employees hired by Korea Eximbank's overseas representative offices in Ghana, Myanmar and the Philippines were also invited to the workshop to help them further enhance their understanding of EDCF system and procedures and build the sense of membership.

The workshop will kick off with a special lecture by professor Sung Keuk-je of the College of International Studies at Kyung Hee University on “Korea's Economic Development Experience and Implications.”

In addition, during the seminar session, the Bank will be sharing best practice EDCF project cases and discussing how to strengthen mutual cooperation between EDCF and partner countries in a more efficient way.

During the week, participants will be visiting the Seoul Metropolitan Transportation Information Center, the Seoul Energy Dream Center and the Smartium to get a first-hand look at Korea's advanced IT technologies in areas such as transportation, sanitation and urban development, which are supported by EDCF.

Shin Deog-yong, Senior Executive Director of Korea Eximbank, said, “The EDCF Workshop was organized to promote cooperative relationships with partner countries by helping them enhance the understanding of EDCF support system. We will continue our efforts to strengthen reciprocal economic cooperation with our partner countries and contribute to creating more jobs and expanding Korean companies' presence overseas."

Launched in 1995, the EDCF Workshop has been participated by 337 senior government officials from 49 developing countries around the world to date.
